One person was killed and four others were injured in multiple accidents at Sango tollgate on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Command, Clement Oladele, and the Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed the tragic occurrence.
According to them, the accidents occured at around 4:49am on Tuesday, beginning when the truck experienced brake failure, causing it to ram intk five vehicles and teo motorcycles.
Oladele said, “It was reported that the containerised truck had a brake failure and hit the other vehicles at the rear. The truck also ran into a group of commuters waiting to board commercial buses at the tollgate bus stop.
“It ended up crushing one person to death and injuring four persons, including two motorcyclists waiting for passengers.”
The affected vehicles have been removed from the road while injured victims have been rushed to the hospital.
Oladele confirmed also that the dead victim had been taken to the State’s morgue.
