Contrary to the news floating around the internet regarding the resumption of international flight operations, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, said that the date for the resumption of international flights is still undecided.
He said that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority did not schedule the rumored resumption date for October 15.
He added that the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has only just issued a 90-day routine notices to airmen (NOTAM).
The agreed date for the resumption of international flights will be announced “regardless of the ban by Europe, UAE,” among other countries, the minister said in a tweet.
Sirika tweeted, “International flight resumption date is not October. NAMA just issued a routine 90-day notice to airmen (NOTAM).
“In liaison with health, foreign affairs & PTF COVID-19, we will announce the agreed date, regardless of the ban by Europe, UAE etc. May be earlier than October.”
Operations at airports across the country were shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic, with domestic flights resuming on July 8, starting in Lagos and Abuja, with airports in other states like Port Harcourt, Kano, Maiduguri, and Owerri resuming operations on the 11th.
