Two unidentified victims lost their lives yesterday when a 20-feet container fell on a commercial bus at Ilasamaja on the Oshodi-Badagry Expressway, three were injured, and another three escaped unhurt.
It was gathered that some of the passengers were allegedly disembarking from the bus when the unfortunate tragedy happened.
The incident was confirmed by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Director-General, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.
According to him, those who died, a male and a female, and the injured victims had been taken to Isolo General Hospital by LASEMA Responder.
The director-General added that when the LASEMA Responder got to the accident scene, it discovered that a truck with registration number SGM 715 XA, loaded with a 20-ft container had collided with a commercial bus discharging passengers under the bridge at Ilasamaja at about 7pm.
He said, “ The impact of the fallen container led to the immediate death of two passengers, one male and one female. Three other passengers, including the bus driver, were rescued with injuries and have been transferred to the Isolo General Hospital. Three passengers escaped unhurt.”
Oke-Osanyintolu also added that the Lagos State Transport Management Authority and the police were involved in controlling traffic in the area.
