Samson Onyeabor and his book.

The book published by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is a new feather to the plumose hat of this Singapore-based Nigerian who has over 10 research works and technical papers to his name — Samson Onyeabor.

The new book which exemplifies functional guideline to warrant best safety practice in Gas Flaring and Emission among Oil & Gas industry players attracted sponsorship offers from industry bigwigs such as Shells and CWC for Samson.

The sponsorships are, however, not independent of the AfriSAFE 2019 nominee’s track record. Samson is considered one of the few who has paid their dues with well-meaning contributions and new insight to growth and establishment of the HSE industry globally.

Apart from being a HSEQ manager, Maritime regulatory compliance specialist and ISO lead auditor in management systems, Samson also have a distinction leading safety Certifications.

This makes it no gainsay that he writes as an authority in his field.

Speaking with HSENations, he concedes that gas flaring is inevitable but opined that his [new] book provides instructions and strategies that make Oil and Gas industry players achieve commendable safety level that commensurate with the industry-accepted standard.

He said, “It (the book) is based on many years of research, discoveries and field trips to recognized exploration and production companies in Nigeria.”

HSENations confirms that the book wrapped in cotton wool first-hand information and relevant data to all stakeholders, regulators and operator of the oil and gas industry around the world on the latest gas flaring and mitigation technologies and operational mechanism.

Samson revealed that the book will be presented at the OTC Conference, next year in Houston, United States of America.

Recounting the challenges he faced before completing the research work, he opined that “One of the challenges I face in birthing the new book was privacy issues and lack of support during the experiment and data collection/sample but I was determined to succeed.”

His success will, however, become what will save Oil & Gas industry players huge fortune that would have come in the form of heavy fines for defaulting or compromising regulators requirements from operators on gas flaring and emission.

HSENations had gathered that regulators of the Oil and Gas industry are not condoning acts, and will go to the length of closing down businesses, that defrauds best practices in gas flaring and emission.

Propping this point, Samson said “Local laws are enforcing the globally acceptable requirements now. In Nigeria, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has enforcement guidelines to punish offenders who do not have relevant permits and operators who are not complying with the flare guidelines”.

He reiterated that the guidelines provided in his book will avert dire consequences.

Samson’s Previous Works
