A House of Representative member, Hon. Amos Gwamna Magaji has promised to sponsor two new bills in Nigeria’s hallowed chamber to promote the safety industry and practice in the nation.
The honourable member representing Zangon Kataf / Jaba Federal Constituency (Kaduna state) made this promise to the Nigerian Chapter of American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) when the group paid a courtesy visit to him in his office in Abuja on the 12th of August.
This was disclosed in a press release of the Group, made available to HSENations.
One of the bills, according to the release, is a personal ambition of Hon. Amos, who is making a move to ensure Construction Companies consult and employ HSE Professionals to assess their plans and materials before undertaking any job.
The second bill will be in-line with ASSP advocacy for the introduction of safety training at all levels in schools.
Hon. Amos Gwamna Magaji said the bills will be passed into law if necessary evidence to support them are provided while he works with members of his committee and the federal house of representative to achieve it.
The group, led by her President, Mrs Mercy Omoifo-Irefo told the lawmaker that the move will promote the awareness of Safety culture and consciousness among posterity.
The President opined that it will also increase safety awareness and prevent avoidable injuries, accidents and other related workplace and living mishaps in the future.
Conclusively, She urged the honourable who is also an active member of ASSP, to continuously support the association to attain her set objectives.
