Organizers of Africa’s biggest Safety Award Event, Africa Safety Award for Excellence (AfriSAFE) have disclosed that 50 million people were reached in the course of the event publicity campaign for AfriSAFE 2020.

The information was contained in a data report sent to the award sponsors by the organizers.

According to the organizers, AfriSAFE which exist “to extol and project the silent but excellent work that Safety practitioners are doing” has evolved into Africa’s biggest safety event since it’s launch two years ago.

HSENations recalls that AfriSAFE 2020, unlike the 2019 edition, was held virtually due to the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic. The Chief Coordinating Officer, Mr Femi Da-Silva had also made it known that AfriSAFE management decided to use the 2020 edition as “a movement for change, a clarion call for a Safer Africa” by recognizing and celebrating COVID-19 heroes.

The report read in part that “On July 14, 2020, we launched a nomination call for the COVID-19 Heroes via the AfriSAFE website (www.afrisafe.org) and @hsenations Social Media Handles, announcing nine award categories.”

It revealed that leading Newspapers, Magazines and blogs in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and South Africa featured news stories of the Award Event and the AfriSAFE team, as well, launched online campaigns including “Safety My Language” on several social media platforms.

The organizers, in the report, said analysis revealed that the information about the event got an accumulated massive reach of over 50 million audiences.

Meanwhile, the report also stated that no less than 5, 004,000 people watched AfriSAFE 2020.

“Before the event, a Zoom platform was set up for just 300 participants but we had 470 Registrants with 315 in attendances at the event and 93 people on the waiting room (with unrecognized names).”

“The Zoom platform brought together notable professionals/executives, influencers, public and corporate organizations from several parts of the world to attend the Zoom Virtual Event…with estimated views of over 5,004,000 across various media platforms and TV channel like Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, DSTV Channel 193 (TVC News Channel)”, the report recounted.

AfriSAFE 2020 was sponsored by Institution of Occupation Health and Safety (IOSH); Hybrid Group, Combined Training Solutions, Eximia Realty and Surveillance Fire Ltd, among other supporters.
