The type of diversity in a social context is theoretically infinite: they encompass every characteristic that appears with variations among a group of people (such as hair or eye color). When it comes to workplaces, there are seven types of diversity that we will be discussing. These diversities are the one that keeps the company growing if they are applied and treated well.

Below are various types of workplace diversity companies should support and promote among their employees.

1. Religion Diversity
Religion Diversity refers to the presence of multiple religious practices within the organization. The promotion of different religions, practices, and beliefs should be allowed in the organization regardless of employee’s beliefs.

2. Gender Diversity
Sex and gender can be used in the traditional sense of male and female employees. For example, you may sometimes hear the term “gender balance” used by companies trying to achieve a 50-50 balance between employees who identify as male and employees who identify as female. But, as gender is increasingly redefined, the term “gender diversity” may be more appropriate since there are multiple variations in gender and sexual orientation. Respect should be placed on individuals’ acclaimed gender without insulting their self-esteem.

3. Age Diversity
Age diversity had to do b bb b b working with people of different ages and, most importantly, generations. For example, millennials, GenZers, and GenXers can coexist in the same workplace. All these people of different age groups must be able b.  Bbbb relate and understand the perspective of growth for the company.

5. Cultural Diversity
Cultural diversity is based on how individuals are differently raised based on their societal differences and beliefs. Most often people of different norms and attitudes plus reactions towards the issues of life.

The above-mentioned diversities are protected under the law, and, of course, the company can get sued over this by employees if the right of such an employee is tampered with. Other diversity which is not often discussed includes Socioeconomic background/Class diversity, Education,
Life experiences, personality, general worldview/ opinions.
These are characteristics that are more intangible than protected characteristics, but it’s equally useful to take them into account inside the business context.
