Attributes that employees wants from a safety manager

When the safety of an employee gets threatened at workplace, it definitely will become an eye sore for colleagues and people within the working environment. This is why safety manager are very important in every filed that prioritizes safety in their daily activities and functions. Their job is to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses by identifying risks, enforcing safety legislation, and making sure everyone follows the right procedures.

This article will focus on attributes which employees expect from safety Managers.

1. Possessing a degree or secondary training in health and safety.
While anyone can become a safety person, it is very important to understand and know that not everyone can become a safety manager. A safety manager must undergo safety training that teaches and exposes him/her to the need for safety at all time. This training is what will enable him understand the gravity of safety been taken for granted which will thereby help him to set down rules that priotized safety at all time.

2. Health and safety certification
It would be nice and quiet great when a safety manager have certification to back up his believe and practice of safety. Safety certification are very important because people from all across the world have various safety orientation, but having gone to a school of safety establishes where your practice and believe of safety originates from.

3. Computer and observation skills
Safety Managers need to be able to spot out any situation that can lead to hazard which may claim lives and properties at any time. That requires top-notch observation skills. You need to recognize hazards and unsafe conditions so that you can take steps to deal with them. Also the need for computer based skills is very important, as a safety manager, you will be required to make report, create memos for training and sensitization. The need to be computer taught is very important here.

4. Problem Solving
Safety manager must be problem Solving oriented without getting tensed or passing blames on worker’s . You will be called to provide solutions to certain problem, and most time it maybe impromptu, so you will need a problem Solving skills to be intact in order to save the company from any form of destruction either through preassumed hazard or others

5. Organizational skills and practice
If you can stay organized and function effectively in a fast-paced environment, you will be more attractive to potential employers. Then ability to jungle between functions and activities is very important for safety Managers. You must be able to fix and think fast, find a solution to a problem before it gets out of hand.

Employers value safety officers who are always striving to find new ways to avoid accidents and keep people safe, as Navin points out. So every safety Managers must be able to do this, ensuring that employees are not posed to danger at anytime
