Frequently Asked Questions And Aswers On FG’s Travel Restriction Order

Following the announcement of travel restriction measures taken by the Federal Government to contain and manage the spread of Coronavirus on Wednesday 18th March, 2020, the Presidential Task Force has, as part of the continuing engagement with members of the public, found it necessary to provide answers to the following frequently asked questions.

HSENations understands that the restriction announcement was made public by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha during a press briefing in Abuja. The countries that have the travel restriction include China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Japan, France, Germany, Norway, United States of America, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Switzerland.

This is contrary to the earlier pronouncement of the Federal Government that had said that it had no plans to impose travel restrictions on visitors from countries where the coronavirus continues to spread rapidly.

Q. What is restricted entry?

A. It means you will not be allowed into the country if you live in or have visited these countries in the last fifteen (15) days.

Q. As a Nigerian returning home, does restricted entry apply to me?

A. No, you will be allowed in but subject to supervised self-isolation for Fourteen (14) days after arrival.

Q. As a diplomat, does restricted entry affect me?

A. No, you will be allowed into Nigeria but subject to supervised self- isolation for Fourteen (14) days after arrival.

Q. I am resident in Nigeria but hold a foreign passport. Does restricted entry affect me?

A. No, you will be allowed into Nigeria but subject to supervised self- isolation for Fourteen (14) days after arrival

Q. I will be transiting through one of the 13 countries to get into Nigeria. Does restricted entry affect me?

A. Yes, if you have been to any of the countries mentioned, you will not be allowed into Nigeria, except you are a returning Nigerian, resident or diplomat.
