The Chief Executive Officer, Combined Training Solutions Ltd, Funmi Adegbola has earned a spot in the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Council, following her victory in polls.

This development has made Funmi the only West African representative in the Council of the World’s Largest Membership and Chartered Body for Safety and Health Professionals, IOSH.
Recall that HSENations reported in July that eight West African were knocking horns in a bid to find a spot in the 36-member council with their other counterparts from different parts of the world.
We gathered that, globally, 55 Health and Safety professional contested and at the conclusion of the election, only the top 12 were elected.
Funmi Adegbola earned the 4th place, cementing her status as the only West African on the list of those elected.
In an interview with our correspondent, Funmi said that “being elected into Council is very humbling and indeed a great privilege, as it gives me so many opportunities to grow,”
“To add value to the institution by intentionally creating strategic partnerships to help bring the IOSH 2022 Strategy to fruition, which means shaping the future of work globally, including West Africa”, she added.
She reiterated her commitment to enhancing the Occupational Health and Safety Practice.
She said, “I believe what this (her victory) means for West Africa as well as other parts of the globe is progress and a dynamic institution.”
“As such, I wish for all members of IOSH to be excited, expectant and trust that I will give my all to influence and strengthen impact globally as well as enhance the Occupational Health and Safety profession”.
Asked whether she would be vying for another top spot in IOSH after her stint in the council, She asserted that “Well, to whom much is given much is expected. If being at the hem of affairs means greater impact, then it is indeed something to look forward to”.
HSENations July article on The Race of IOSH Council read that “Funmi is a Graduate Member (ongoing Chartered membership transition) and the mastermind of the well organised and widely attended IOSH West Africa Conference.”
“She is the MD/CEO Combined Training Solutions Ltd; Founder of the Young Life Savers Academy- an HSE school club dedicated to empowering teenagers and an author of a Child Safety Book.”
“She has a wealth of experience that spans nearly two decades & has helped shape safety compliance in the Insurance & Financial Sectors in Lagos State in her capacity as a Consultant to the State Commission.”
“She was named one of the top 10 Most Admired Safety Personality in West Africa in 2019…”
