Pandemonium erupted early Monday as part of Katangowa market, located at Super bus stop in Agbado/Oke Odo Local Council Development Area, got engulfed by fire.
HSENations reports that the fire began at exactly 3:15am at one of the shops opposite the Central Mosque in the market.
According to an eyewitness, the fire did spread and burnt down the entire stretch of fairly-used clothing shops inside the market, with numerous properties levelled to ashes.
At press time, the fire had been put under control, by the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA), while some affected traders were seen counting their losses as they scrambled to salvage their wares from the fire.
At the time of reporting this news, the cause of the inferno is, however, unknown.
Also, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, led by the Divisional Police Officer of the Oke Odo Divisional Headquarters, alongside the Chief Security Officer of the market are also present at the scene of the inferno to ensure the maintenance of law and order.
