Osun State Records First Coronavirus Case As Total Cases Hits 46

Osun State, Southwest Nigeria, has recorded its first Coronavirus case.

HSENations reports that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed the suspected Coronavirus (COVID-19) case as positive in a statement released on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Wednesday morning, March 25.

This online safety news platform understands that the first Coronavirus in Osun brings the number of cases of coronavirus in Nigeria to forty-six (46) from its initial forty-four (44).

Giving an update on the spread of the disease, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) tweeted: “Two new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria: 1 in Lagos and 1 in Osun.

“Both cases are returning travelers to Nigeria in the last 7 days.

“As at 07:00 am 25th March, there are 46 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria. 2 have been discharged with 1 death,” NCDC tweeted.

Meanwhile, this is coming two days after Edo State, southern Nigeria recorded its first Coronavirus case.

Nigeria which had only one case of coronavirus (COVID-19) when the pandemic hit the country on February 28 now has 46 confirmed cases as of today, Wednesday, March 25. Globally, the disease has affected 192 countries with more than 329,000 cases.

In Africa, 42 out of the 54 countries that make up the continent are affected.
