AfriSAFE Announces Up to $20,000 for Safety Innovations, 2025 Nominations Begin

The Africa Safety Award for Excellence (AfriSAFE) has unveiled a bold new initiative — the “AfriSAFE 2025 Safety Idea Capital” — aimed at powering the next generation of health, safety, security, and environment (HSSE) innovations across Africa. Under this scheme, selected innovators will receive up to $5,000 each from a group of experienced backers called “Guardians,” in exchange for equity to turn life-saving ideas into reality.

Femi Da-Silva, CEO of AfriSAFE, described the initiative as a strategic leap towards making African roads, workplaces, and homes safer through technology-driven solutions. The program also offers mentorship and strategic support to help innovators scale their ideas. Entrepreneurs will pitch their projects ahead of the main AfriSAFE event set for November in Mombasa, Kenya.

Mr. Da-Silva also announced that nominations are now open for the 7th edition of AfriSAFE 2025 — a high-profile event celebrating individuals and organizations with outstanding records in health, safety, environment, and well-being.

Nominations can be submitted via www.afrisafe.org. The award ceremony will follow the Africa Safety Congress, held in partnership with the Workplace Safety Professionals Association of Kenya, on November 13-14 in Mombasa.

Now in its seventh year, AfriSAFE remains a continent-wide platform championing workplace safety and collaboration. It continues to spotlight changemakers across industries who are redefining safety standards.

The event is endorsed by organizations including the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, Kenya, and the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

Confirmed sponsors for this year’s event include Seplat Energy, Savenda Group, SMTS Zambia, Hybrid Group, Joint Professionals Training And Support International (JPTS)/ Global Wealth University, Nigeria Institution of Safety Engineers (NISafetyE), Bellie&Rooster, Fog, Imperium & Aurelius (FIA), Safety Consultants and Solution Providers Limited (SCSP), Sttrutt Integrated Services Limited, The Bristlecone Experience, Milary Ltd, Paddie, and the African Occupational Compliance Institute. Key partners include the Africa Vision Zero Network and the Alliance for Women in EHS, Kenya.
