The Australia Zambia Business Council (AZBC) and Africa Safety Award for Excellence (AfriSafe) are proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on promoting safety standards as a human right in Africa and Australia. The MOU was signed at a formal ceremony attended by key representatives from both organisations.
The signing event was led by the Chair of the AZBC, Joseph Kufakwandi, and the Global Vice President of AfriSafe, Mwaala Sipilanyambe. Other distinguished attendees included the CEO of AfriSafe, Femi Da Silva, Secretary of AZBC, Cranston Haankwenda, Vice President of AZBC, Mwaba Mwaba, and a Management Committee member of the AZBC, Navid Mavaddat and AfriSafe Zambia Coordinator for Partnerships Ms Joy Muyunda.
This partnership aims to enhance safety awareness and standards through joint initiatives, beginning with the upcoming AfriSafe Conference in Livingstone, Zambia, on November 7-8, 2024. This will be the first AfriSafe Conference to be held in Zambia and will feature workshops, a safety congress, an exhibition, networking opportunities, and an award dinner. While the MOU focuses initially on this significant event, its scope extends beyond the conference to promote a culture of safety across both continents.
“We are excited to join forces with AfriSafe to promote our common values and the fundamental human right of safety,” said Joseph Kufakwandi, Chair of the AZBC. “Both AZBC and AfriSafe firmly believe that safety is not just a priority; it is a basic human right. This collaboration aligns perfectly with our mission to create investment opportunities and enhance the wellbeing of communities in Australia and Zambia.”
Mwaala Sipilanyambe, Global Vice President of AfriSafe, added, “The MOU with AZBC represents a groundbreaking step forward in our mission to elevate safety standards in Africa. The AfriSafe Conference in Livingstone is set to be a dynamic and influential event, bringing together the brightest minds and passionate advocates in the Safety sector that includes Health, Environment (ESG), Mental Health and Well-being. This partnership will amplify our efforts, ensuring that the crucial message of safety as a human right reverberates powerfully across both continents and beyond the conference.”
