As schools prepare for a new academic session, educators and parents across Lagos will gather for Child Safety Outreach 3.0, an annual conference designed to strengthen child protection, behavioural safety and emergency response skills.
Organised by SafeKids Foundation, the conference aims to equip adults responsible for children with practical skills to create safer schools and homes while addressing emerging physical, behavioural and digital safety challenges.
The conference, themed “Reinforcing Physical and Behavioural Safety in Child Safeguarding,” targets elementary and junior high schools, as well as parents across Kosofe Local Government Area.
According to Adejumoke Sangolana, Visioner, SafeKids Foundation, the event is strategically timed to ensure teachers and school leaders can immediately implement the knowledge gained as schools reopen in September.
“Child safety begins with informed and prepared adults. Through Child Safety Outreach 3.0, we are equipping parents, teachers and school leaders with practical safeguarding skills that can prevent avoidable incidents and create safer learning environments for every child,” Sangolana said.
Participants will receive practical training on integrating behavioural safety into existing safeguarding practices, while each participating school will receive complimentary child safety storybooks to strengthen safety education within its library, and among pupils.
The conference will also provide free safety equipment, First Aid demo, and Child CPR training, with certificates issued to participants upon successful completion.
Furthermore, the event will feature presentations from respected child protection and safety advocates, including Engr. Jamiu Badmos, Founder of the Foundation for Sustainability, Excellence and Human Development (FESHD); Mrs. Bolanle Edwards, Founder of Strap and Safe Child Foundation; and Chief Amuwa Richard, President of the Child Safety Education and Protection Initiative (CSEPI).
Sangolana said collaboration among educators, parents and safety professionals remains critical to reducing preventable injuries and strengthening child protection systems.
“Children spend a significant part of their lives in schools, making educators and caregivers essential partners in safeguarding. This conference is about empowering those responsible for children with practical knowledge they can apply immediately, both inside and outside the classroom,” she said.
Child Safety Outreach 3.0 is endorsed by the Lagos State Safety Commission and sponsored by Vitabol by Efunpo Pharma, AfriSafe, with additional sponsors expected to be announced.
Technical support is being provided by Sustainable People, while HSE Nations serves as the media partner and The 312 Company is coordinating event management.
Founded by child safety advocate, Adejumoke Sangolana, SafeKids Foundation works to bridge safety gaps in schools and homes through education, advocacy and school safety systems. The organisation continues to promote practical child protection initiatives aimed at helping schools build safer learning environments across Nigeria.
