Childrens Day 2020: Strap And Safe Child Foundation Set For Virtual Celebration

Children’s Day, which is celebrated every May 27, has always been a special day for children across the globe. Governments, non-governmental bodies and corporate bodies usually organise different programmes and activities yearly to celebrate with the children and make the day memorable.

Although, this year’s celebration will be completely different, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, which led to the lockdown of the country, with schools shut and children forced to stay at home. And though the lockdown has been eased, certain safety measures, such as social distancing and wearing of face mask have to be observed. All this is making social life awkward.

However, Strap & Safe Child Foundation a non-for-profit organization that advocates the importance of children’s safety on the road, home and in schools is set to hold a Children’s Day Webinar Themed: “Safety Of The Pysically Challenged Child, The Problems, The Solutions And The Way Forward”

The webinar is scheduled to air on the 27th of May by 10am.

About Strap & Safe Child Foundation

In support of SDG 3 “Good health and Well-being”, target 3.6 which states; “By 2020, halve the number of global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents”, Strap & Safe Child Foundation is a non-for-profit organization that advocates the importance of children’s safety on the Road, In the Home and in the School. Strap & Safe Child Foundation inaugurated in the year 2009 by Mrs. Bolanle Edwards out of a passion for children’s safety and coming across some alarming statistics on child mortality due to road and domestic accidents. Strap & Safe Child Foundation has a mandate for promoting safe driving and children transiting habits – the use of seatbelts and other forms of restraints as appropriate, to reduce the risk of death in case of an accident of children between age 0 – 12 years.

At Strap & Safe Child Foundation, we reiterate the “better safe than sorry” approach to our campaign and inform stake-holders about safety-related habits on the Road, at Home and in School. Our interventions address the danger of not using restraints for children in moving vehicles and the fatal consequences of disobeying traffic laws.

All our interventions are done in collaboration with the Government agencies for Road Safety (Federal Road Safety Commission), Private Organizations and the Road Safety Coalition of Nigeria (RSC).

Our tripod approach to child safety Home, Road and School is aimed at highlighting the safety hazards that exist in Homes, Schools and on the Road and advocating ways to mitigate these hazards. Strap & Safe Child Foundation founded in April 2009, is a self-funding community of volunteers, supporters and stakeholders.
