The National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria has begun a nationwide strike despite COVID-19 crisis.

COVID-19 In Nigeria: Over 80 Doctors Test Positive To COVID-19

Over 80 health workers consisting of 22 doctors and 60 other health workers in the frontline of tackling the COVID-19 pandemic have tested positive to the killer virus in Rivers State.

Chairperson of the state’s chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Dr. Obelebra Adebiyi disclosed this to newsmen.

Adebiyi further called on the government to do a review of the hazard allowance being paid to doctors who were employed by the state government.

She noted also that the health workers lack adequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as the combat the virus.

She said “The number of COVID-19 cases in the state increased from 0, in less than 8 weeks, to about 450 confirmed cases with 21 deaths.

Meanwhile, HSENations understands that as at the time of filing this report Rivers State COVID-19 cases has risen to four hundred and fifty-four 454 while total infections in Nigeria hits fifteen thousand, one hundred and eighty-one (15,181) with four thousand, eight hundred and ninety-one (4,891) people discharged and three hundred and ninety-nine (399) deaths
