FRSC Organizes Workshop to Raise Driver Awareness on Road Safety Measures

The Sagamu Unit Command of the Federal Roads Safety Corps recently organized a one-day workshop aimed at creating awareness among drivers about the importance of road safety measures.

The workshop, titled “Speed Thrills, But Kills,” was held at Awolowo Motor Park in Sagamu, Ogun State. Chief Route Commander Sule Okloho (Unit Commander Rs2.25) highlighted the FRSC’s long-standing tradition of promoting awareness, particularly during the ember months, to address the inherent dangers associated with road travel.

He urged drivers to exercise caution, adhere to speed limits, possess valid driver’s licenses, and avoid violating traffic regulations.

Deputy Corps Commander Ayodeji Oseni of the FRSC discussed the rising trend of road accidents, attributing them largely to driver distractions such as mobile phone usage for calls or texting.

He provided valuable insights into various safety aspects, including overloading, traffic signs, handling emergencies, road lanes, proper overtaking, avoiding driving on walkways, refraining from smoking while driving, and preventing accidents.

The workshop conducted by the Sagamu Unit Command of the Federal Roads Safety Corps serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety measures that should be implemented more frequently across different parts of the country.

The workshop emphasized the significance of adhering to speed limits, possessing valid driver’s licenses, and respecting traffic regulations. These measures are crucial in reducing accidents and ensuring the safety of both drivers and pedestrians.

The discussion on driver distractions, particularly the use of mobile phones while driving, highlights a growing concern that needs immediate attention. Raising awareness about the dangers of such distractions can potentially save numerous lives on the road.

In addition, the workshop highlighted other essential road safety practices, including preventing overloading, understanding traffic signs, handling emergencies effectively, respecting road lanes, practicing proper overtaking maneuvers, and refraining from smoking while driving. By addressing these key areas, the workshop aimed to prevent accidents and create a safer driving environment for everyone.

It is essential to replicate such workshops in different parts of the country regularly. By spreading awareness and knowledge about road safety measures, we can instill responsible driving habits and ensure that individuals are equipped with the necessary skills and information to make better decisions on the road.

Overall, the workshop served as a timely reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for more comprehensive and widespread initiatives to promote safe driving practices throughout the country.
