Ghana to Host Africa’s Largest Safety Congress as AfriSAFE Signs Landmark Partnership with GECA and GhISEP

Ghana is set to host Africa’s premier gathering on workplace safety and sustainability following the signing of a strategic partnership in Accra early this month between AfriSAFE, the Ghana Electrical Contractors’ Association (GECA), and the Ghana Institute of Safety and Environmental Professionals (GhISEP).

The agreement will see Accra host the 8th edition of the AfriSAFE – Africa Safety Congress & Awards from 5–6 November 2026 at the Labadi Beach Hotel, positioning Ghana as a continental hub for safety leadership, professional collaboration, and industry dialogue.

The AfriSAFE – Africa Safety Congress & Awards is expected to attract delegates from across Africa, Europe, and other international markets, creating significant opportunities for knowledge exchange, professional development, and industry partnerships. Beyond the conference itself, the event is projected to contribute to tourism, professional training, and business networking, while strengthening the country’s reputation as a leading hub for safety leadership and occupational health advancement in Africa.

Femi Da-silva, CEO of AfriSAFE, said the partnership will provide a platform to strengthen occupational safety and sustainability frameworks, promote proactive risk prevention, and foster cross-border collaboration among key stakeholders shaping the future of workplace safety on the continent.

“AfriSAFE was established to drive a continental movement for safety excellence. This partnership with GECA and GhISEP represents the power of collaboration in shaping safer workplaces across Africa. Ghana’s leadership and commitment to professional safety development makes it an ideal host for AfriSAFE 2026.”

He added:

“Beyond the congress itself, this initiative will strengthen national safety systems, inspire industry accountability,
and empower professionals who are working daily to protect lives.” he said.
Under the partnership framework, GECA will support industry engagement and electrical safety advocacy within the broader AfriSAFE programme.

Mr. Awal Sakib Mohammed, President of GECA, emphasized that elevating electrical safety standards is
fundamental to Africa’s infrastructure goals.

“Electrical issues are a primary cause of fires and remain among the most frequent and severe workplace
emergencies. As electrical infrastructure drives Africa’s growth, strengthening safety practices is essential to
protecting lives and ensuring sustainable development,” he said.

The Ghana Institute of Safety and Environmental Professionals (GhISEP) will provide professional leadership support, aligning the congress programme with national occupational safety priorities and strengthening engagement among safety professionals.

Engr. Dr. Mrs. Miriam Eduful, President of GhISEP, noted that the initiative reflects a shared commitment to
advancing professional safety leadership.

“Africa Safety Congress 2026 will provide a platform for collaboration among professionals, regulators, and
industry leaders working to strengthen workplace safety systems across Africa,” she said.

Beyond the congress programme, the event is expected to contribute to professional training, policy dialogue, and business networking, while reinforcing Ghana’s growing reputation as a regional center for occupational safety and professional development.
