ISPON Inducts New Members Into Ogun Chapter

The Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON) recently inaugurated and inducted new members into the Ogun State chapter of the institute.

The ceremony, themed “3Cs Safety Model: Safety Culture Excellence through Competence, Communication and Collaboration,” was held at Bezer Hall in Sango Ota, Ogun State.

The event brought together safety professionals, industry stakeholders and leaders within the institute to reinforce the importance of professional competence and collaboration in strengthening workplace safety culture.

Dignitaries present included the National President of the institute, Dr Udezi Stephen, the Registrar, Benjamin Modebe, and the Ogun State Chairman, Amoo Temitope, alongside other national and state executives of the institute.

Speaking during the ceremony, the ISPON President, Dr Stephen Udezi, charged the newly inducted members to uphold the institute’s ethical and professional standards.

He reminded them that membership of the institute carries significant responsibilities and warned that the institute reserves the right to withdraw membership from any member who fails to meet its professional and ethical expectations.

Also speaking at the event, the Country Safety, Health and Environmental Sustainability Manager at Nestlé, Raphael Fischer, delivered a presentation titled ‘The Nexus of Professional Integrity and Organisational Safety Performance’.

In his presentation, Fischer emphasised the importance of ethical conduct and strong professional standards in achieving sustainable workplace safety and improved organisational performance.

Another guest speaker, Dr Monica Nwosu, also delivered a presentation titled ‘Effective Occupational Safety and Health Communication Strategies: Bridging the Gap Between Management Directives and Workforce Understanding’.

She highlighted the critical role of clear communication channels, workforce engagement and strategic messaging in ensuring the successful implementation of safety policies within organisations.

The event also featured the presentation of awards to deserving partners and friends of the institute in recognition of their contributions to the advancement of occupational safety and health practices.

The gathering provided an opportunity for safety professionals, industry leaders and stakeholders to share insights and reaffirm the importance of competence, communication and collaboration in building strong safety cultures across organisations.
