Laikipia East residents have been urged to take advantage of the ongoing rainy season to plant trees in a bid to address climate change.

Laikipia East Deputy County Commissioner Patrick Muli who was speaking at a tree planting exercise in Mia Moja Primary School said that the government targets to establish tree nurseries at every location.

“We are also encouraging women and youth groups to establish tree nurseries.

Since this is just the beginning, we hope to have enough tree seedlings next season,” said Muli.

Muli pointed out that they had rolled out tree planting exercises in all public institutions in the area adding that they target to plant 25,000 tree seedlings in Laikipia East before the end of the rains.
