Ahead of the upcoming School Feeding Programme in Lagos State, Crown Flour Mills Limited recently held a sensitisation workshop on food safety and management for members of the Association of Master Bakers and Caterers of Nigeria (AMBCN).

HSENations reports that the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) were represented at the Crown Flour Mills Limited workshop where bakers were lectured on hygiene and standard practice in bread production.

Mr. Anurag Shukla, Managing Director of Crown Flour Mills, explained that the workshop was geared towards ensuring food safety for the school feeding programme as well as offering enlightenment for everyone in the value chain.

“After today’s exercise, we expect that everything they were taught by NAFDAC and SON would be cascaded down the line to ensure that the quality of the bread they are producing is of high standard and bromate-free,” Shukla said.

The Deputy Director, NAFDAC, Sunday Onah, advised the bakers to always adopt hygienic practices and to shun ingredients like bromate that poses a significant health risk to students.

Alhaji Raji Omotunde, the state Chairman of AMBCN, stated that since children deserve only the best, the importance of the worksjhop could not be overemphasised.

“I am most grateful to the management of Crown Flour Mills and other companies for taking bold sponsorship of this seminar.

“As professional master bakers, we are going to remind ourselves of good hygienic practices both in manufacturing practice, production planning and logistics arrangements,” Omotunde said.
