Aliyu Salisu, a 27-year-old Nigerien, was saved when a three-story structure in Abuja’s Lifecamp neighborhood fell on Aug 2.
Salisu was stuck under the debris for ten hours before he was rescued, although a number of other people managed to escape.
Salisu was safely rescued out of the wreckage at around 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, according to a statement released by Josephine Adeh, the spokeswoman for the FCT Police Command, which confirmed the rescue.
According to her, he was brought to Cedar Crest Hospital in Gudu, where he is now being treated and is apparently improving.
According to Adeh, “the FCT Police Command received a distress call on August 2, 2025, at around 6:15 PM, reporting the collapse of a three-story building in the Lifecamp area of Abuja.”
Together with representatives from the Federal Capital Territory Administration Development Control Department, Zeberced
Construction Company, and the National Emergency Management Agency, the Divisional Police Officer of the Lifecamp Division immediately mobilized a rescue team to the scene, cordoned off the area, and began a coordinated rescue operation after receiving the report.
Aliyu Salisu, a 27-year-old Niger Republic national, was the only casualty who had been buried under the debris for about ten hours of a life-saving mission before rescue crews managed to free him at around 4:00 AM on August 3, 2025.
He was taken right away to Cedar Crest Hospital in Gudu for a thorough medical examination and treatment. He is reacting to therapy.
She stated that Ajao Adewale, the FCT Commissioner of Police, who was on the site, praised the prompt and competent reaction of all the agencies that were engaged in the operation.
Adeh also asked locals to be on guard and notify the police control center right away of any emergency or questionable activity.
