“Rendering practical aid and support”; “Helps in action.” The Helps Ministry, is to be a “practical aid and support” to our leaders in the discharge of their assignment to the nation, state, local government, MDAs, organizations or groups! The Ministry of helps is a valid ministry; it is a valid calling that we are all called into.
The President, Governors, MD/CEOs are all in the ministry of Helps, however they find themselves unable to handle the day in and day out responsibility of caring for all the people and task; hence, they appoint aids that are to function in the ministry of Helps, supporting them to accomplish their desired goals. The ministry of Helps is a privilege position not where you become lord of all or a virus to the system. All the appointed or nominated are exercising the ministry of helps and they should do it quietly. The success or failures of the leaders depend largely on their support systems.
We’ve seen and heard how the ministry of Helps has been abused in huge proportions, what do you make of someone dipping his hands into the cookie jar and taking One Hundred Billion in a sweep? The varied and continuous dipping has left us with very huge infrastructural deficiency. One of the most baffling is the unfaithfulness of some of the assigned to reach out to the citizens during this Corona Virus Disease rampage. We must do the right things because it’s the right things to do. A wild and deadly virus ravaging the world that must be contained by all means should not be toyed with. One of the safest ways to deal with the virus is social distance, which can best be achieved through lockdown.
We were hit by a sudden lockdown that didn’t have a long time preparation; some in the society will require aids. It’s heartbreaking seeing the systems being abused and exploited. Government, corporate bodies and some individuals rose up to be of service as support systems at this trying time -donating. Some thinks this is their turn to dip into the cookie jar, some stood as rocks in the way of distribution; all manner of criteria, hindering the smooth gesture of the helps. You will be remembered for two things- the problems you caused or the problems you solved.
An expatriate who served in this country was being sent forth; a plaque was produced in his honour. A paragraph on the plaque read: _“You served and excelled in a society where common sense is severely lacking.”_ I was shocked, pained and felt seriously insulted as a citizen; but come to think of it, “Is it a lie?” As a people, is good reasoning and thinking part of our general position? The absurd has become the normal; one man with a vision (the President, Governors, MD/CEOs or team leader) can’t get the job done alone, rather than being a trusted hand with the Helps Ministry, you’re the Corona Virus Disease (Naija-COVID) in the success of the system.
The lockdown is a good time for reflection. In ’91 a friend Phil decided to help me with a pair of shoe because the one I had was disabled. Another friend Harvey urged him not to assist me. Help as many as you can in this global tough time and national lockdown. I’m grateful Phil didn’t listen to his counsel. Please be a Help Minister. Nothing destroys destinies like insensitivity, think about this, what if all that dipped into the cookie jar caught COVID-19 as the reward of their service/abuse? The efforts of government, corporate bodies, individuals and the citizens must not be in vain in the fight against the Corona virus. Let’s birth a new nation that will be the envy of the world post COVID-19. We can do it…Yes we can.
