The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the safety of lives of its citizenry following the outbreak of COVID-19 global pandemic.
This assertion was made by the Director-General, Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola when issuing additional Occupational Health & Safety Sectorial (OSH) Guidelines on easing of the lockdown of businesses in Lagos State.
Lanre Mojola noted that the OSH guidelines cover several sectors such as manufacturing, construction, retail outlets, and shopping malls, eateries and restaurants, food packaging businesses, financial institutions as well as the informal sector such as artisans.
According to him, Lagos State Safety Commission was established to develop and formulate policies and strategies that will build a sustainable safety culture within the State and urged Lagosians to adhere to these safety guidelines.
He further mentioned that the Commission will be engaging on a monitoring drive across the aforementioned sectors in the coming weeks to ensure compliance.
The Honorable Commissioner for Special Duties & IGR Engineer Omotayo Bamgbose-Martins also emphasized the need for business operators to adhere strictly to safety guidelines adding that apart from frequent washing of hands with soap and alcohol-based sanitizer, all meetings should begin with a safety moment and ensure the mandatory use of face mask.

Meanwhile, HSENations reports that Nigeria’s total confirmed cases of coronavirus have risen to four thousand, seven hundred and eighty-seven (4787) with nine hundred and fifty-nine(959) people discharged and one hundred and fifty-eight (158) deaths recorded so far.
